October - National Principals Month Across the Country

National Principals Month is officially recognized throughout the country with national and state resolutions supporting the events, as well as acknowledgements from U.S. senators and representatives and other government officials.  Ashe County Schools strongly encourages communities within our school district to celebrate this time with us and honor your school leaders during the month of October.

What is a principal?  Webster’s Dictionary defines a principal as the most important person holding a position in an organization, institution, or group.  At school, that person is in charge.    We know that principals are not the only “spark” for creating lasting foundations for learning, but they matter to each and every student that walks into their school building.  The key to student success is a great school, and the key to a great school is a great principal.  National Principals month is an opportunity to say “thank you” to principals everywhere and to share with the community all the great things those principals do.
